Middletown Historical Society announces 2024 Historical Research Paper Contest.

Contest open to 9^th, 10^th, 11^th, and 12^th grade for students living in the Appoquinimink School District.

Up to $3,500 in cash prizes to be awarded

The Middletown Historical Society is conducting its seventh annual historical research paper competition, with papers to be submitted on or before Friday, November the 1^st, 2024.  The Society looks forward to awarding up to $3500 in prize money.  The Society is offering this competition to build student interest in Middletown history, and to introduce them to the joy and satisfaction of ferreting out a story from long-forgotten facts and sources.  This year’s focus will be comparing and contrasting the life experiences of a relative or friend born before 1960 with the same period in Middletown.  The rules of the competition are now posted here and the judging matrix is here.  In-person registration opens by appointment Wednesday, June 12^th and closes at 8 pm on Thursday, October 17^th at the Historical Society. An appointment for registration must be set up by emailing mhistoricalsociety@gmail.com.  The deadline for submission is on or before Friday, November the 1^st. Papers must be submitted via email to mhistoricalsociety@gmail.com.

Awards will be presented Tuesday, November 19^th at 7:30 pm at the Middletown Historical Society, 216 N. Broad St. Middletown, DE.
